First Grapefruit

We purchased several different citrus trees from the Bluebonnet Master Gardener Fruit Tree Sale in 2017.  We ate our first Rio Red grapefruit and it was delicious.  I have never really liked grapefruit from the store.  This one was much less sour and had a great color.  The citrus is all in pots and this one is in a plastic half barrel.  Watering is important with citrus.  I have a tendency to over water them, which washes out the fertilizers and can even reduce absorption of nutrients that are present in the soil.  In extreme cases or with very heavy potting soils, root rot and death of the tree can occur.
